it's clear that I need more Pedro the Lion

"Letter from a Concerned Follower" is pretty damn good...I forgot where I downloaded it from but it was some music blog..."Never Leave a Job Half Done" and "Nothing" (from Winners Never Quit and Whole respectfully) are also pretty damn engaging...sure you can be a dick about it and label them 'emo' if you want and I guess they probably are but they're not that pouty lame fingernail polish so-called emo that mtv wants you to consume...and whatever, I know the band broke up, the jerks...you could probably find some tunes that are good at Jade Tree's site...David Bazan is touring solo but nowhere near here...who else wants to just up and go to fucking California and settle down among the earthquakes, bodybuilding governators, and mudslides?!

Albums I need to buy include: Statistics' Often Lie, the aforementioned Pedro the Lion's Winners Never Quit, Xiu Xiu's La Foret, and as far as next year is concerned, I must get the new Deftones when it's released in the spring of the new year...

who wants an iPod?

I'm pretty sure my wife would love that I do this...since I'm closing in on 5,500 CDs I think I could probably decide to get rid of some...

torn...between a liberal place and a parking spot

I'm torn between my liberal and human rights views and my desire to not have a neighbor who has 3 or 4 cars that take up space in our parking lot...oh and by the way, while it might seem racist, there's a couple of families in violation, one hispanic and the other black...and one right on the cusp--they're white

so what should I do?

the real issue here in regards to illegal immigration is taxes...everyone should contribute especially if they have the rights to the same protections and public services...I don't know the answer but there's something buried in all the complications that can save this great nation from folding in on top of itself...

For Hawk...

poor hawthorne heights...

the city of human rights wipes arnold's name from it

in objecting to tookie's state-sponsored murder the city of Graz, Austria removes Arnold's name from their stadium...now that sounds like a pleasant little villa...I mean there's communists and green's on the city council! whoa!

12.25.2005

yeah so maybe I got that guitar game or something

Regardless, Boston rules...More Than a Feeling is certainly a song that my band should cover...let them all know!!!

I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away

It’s more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play (more than a feeling)
I begin dreaming (more than a feeling)
’till I see marianne walk away
I see my marianne walkin’ away

So many people have come and gone
Their faces fade as the years go by
Yet I still recall as I wander on
As clear as the sun in the summer sky

It’s more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play (more than a feeling)
I begin dreaming (more than a feeling)
’till I see marianne walk away
I see my marianne walkin’ away

When I’m tired and thinking cold
I hide in my music, forget the day
And dream of a girl I used to know
I closed my eyes and she slipped away
She slipped awa y. she slipped away.

It’s more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play (more than a feeling)
I begin dreaming (more than a feeling)
’till I see marianne walk away
I see my marianne walkin’ away

what needs to be said about my band

besides awesome of course...

so I read this in one of the promo sheets of a band I was reviewing today...a press clipping read as follows:

"...had gotten me off harder than most men I'd ever fucked. And with twenty tracks on the album, it lasted longer too."

wow, Lara Hoegel of Cityzen, that's cool...

the pope eats children on christmas!

"I'll take the one in the goofy hat with some special sauce on the side!" the pope said with a vociferous lick of his ex-Nazi Boy Scout lips...

a bad review!

of my dRed project from NeuFutur...hey can't say I totally disagree with his dislike of the length of my arrangements!...regardless it's always good to have feedback of any kind and this makes me want to work on some new material and veer into yet another crazy direction!

the strike ends and the anger lingers

I think throughout the several days of the strike it was interesting to hear of folks struggle...whether it was the workers who were striking, the commuters, fellow new yorkers, and/or outside observers...to me, it showed yet more reasons why our country is so bitterly divided...I heard or read about people who walked miles to get to their job in the cold...I read about people who complained that their drivers took too long to get to their homes to pick them up...I read about people who hated taking a company shuttle because they had to be stuck with so-and-so that they couldn't stand...the inconveniences that people were stricken with told tales of how much of a divide there was between the have's and the have-not's...so many people were extremely angry...some of the interesting comments that put things in perspective from the union's standpoint can be read here
while others talk about the racial overtones and others talk class divides...I understand the argument that the strike hurts lower and middle class people perhaps just as much as the elite and wealthy...but I think ultimately what it did was show the elite and the powerful that the worker bees can defy the queen and perhaps have more power than the elite ever want to admit...so wrapped in all of the rhetoric and straining opinions, what do you think?

oh the irony

while some parts of the world are waking up...other corners are struggling in irony...and yet others are pointing out Drudgian Deficiencies (hey he is a big dumb gossip queen isn't he?)...meanwhile we're all scratching our heads and saying, wait doesn't this all mean impeachment...before we come to our senses and think, "oh wait but it doesn't involve the national security crisis of a blowjob"...while we're still saying "but you gotta change, even if you were pretty much more spot on about WMD's because there's like some oil-for-food crisis (as if Enron and Halliburton didn't ever freakin' matter)

maybe it just means I should be going elsewhere for my news where I can cheerfully become just as oblivious as any conservative dittohead

when we said democracy we didn't mean OUR democracy

because according to the BBC:

Some 6,655 candidates, 307 parties and 19 coalitions registered for the ballot, electoral officials say.

Where's the two party system? Where's the districts that don't even run an opposing candidate!?!?! How is it that Iraq in its infancy has more options than our democracy?!?!?...BOO.

I miss these sites

fanz powerz! king's quest fan game saved!

this is awesome news:

Hi, this is Matt of the Save King's Quest IX campaign. Forgive the mass email, but I wanted to be sure to let you know the good news, in case you hadn't already heard. Our campaign has been successful! Vivendi has agreed to grant a "fan license" to the makers of King's Quest IX, so it is going to be released as originally planned. WE DID IT!

For more information, you can visit:
http://www.kqix.com

Thank you for your support! The campaign would not have been successful without you!

Sincerely,

Matt Compton

air marshals might have acted inappropriately

Now that the Bush administration is backing the air marshals shooting, I tend to believe the eyewitness accounts even more...isn't it wonderful to live in a nation, where you're a guilty terrorist before you're free?

12.06.2005

boo on virii!

I'm at home taking care of my still-sick wife...boo!...she seems to be doing a bit better but she was extremely weak after not being able to eat a full meal since Friday night...she has a doctor's appointment this Thursday but the doctor this weekend assured us that the baby will be fine and that like a good little parasite it will consume everything it needs before the mommy gets jack squat, which is precisely why she is so weak...so I'm here in case she needs anything and to force her to eat despite her nausea!...also in case I feel like stepping it up from my current vegetarian lifestyle to something more militaristic like veganism, at least I know I can still drink beer...

show your ID punk

there's a hearing in San Fran about the constitutionality of a requirement to show your ID before boarding a plane...I had never really thought about this before but I guess it brings up good points to some degree...it shows how succumbed and registered our nation has become when even I wasn't totally outraged about this...courtesy of boing boing

aol is dead to me

triton is a huge piece of shit

Me and Bill are unoriginal

scroll down to see what a total clown I am, I mean only a good friend of mine got this same tattoo with me but I should have known that others more importantly close to the band would copy....guess this means I need some muscles so I can get another tattoo...(ssssh don't tell the wife!)

I scream out loud about stupid crappy ice cream companies

really loud too I fucking promise

git r done

I often had wondered what force had bestowed us great Manassas folks with such beautiful stickers as the "Git R Done" stickers that seemed to adorn every pickup truck that happened to be on its way to walmart...I figured it was some nascar thing, sort of like the calvin 'n' hobbes pissing on some number of some race car driver thing...but tonight I found out...I had heard that Larry the Cable Guy was funny, in sort of a Jeff Foxworthy kind of way...well despite the stupid joke humor of Mr. Foxworthy, I figured what the hell, I'll listen for a few minutes...well AW SHUCKS if it wasn't the guy who apparantly has the patent for the most references to "git r done"...yes every couple of breaths it was "git r done" or some idiotic variation...his jokes well, they weren't all that great, some were okay but those that were are those typical low-brow type of humor you'd laugh at after a six-pack of budweiser at the local truck stop when you're trying your best to fit in when someone utters racist inflections...so apparantly, a real comedian, David Cross...has some words for the cable guy

and boy is it hilarious...he really lays in to him...and it's awesome.

The Grateful Dead is totally ungrateful

the grateful ead fights with archive.org

you know, I thought Jerry and the crew were all about bootlegs and what-not...but maybe they're just all about their pocketbooks...jerks.
