during my weekend of reviews for Smother I got perturbed at the whole "the" band stupid so I went off

The Hives - Walk Idiot Walk [Single]

There’s something about “The Hives” that I just don’t like. Why? Because I have this seemingly impossible thing to shake, which is a hate for the “The” band phenomenon. If you haven’t heard or read any of my previous rants on the “The” retro garage band thing, basically all the “The” bands out there—that being “The” Strokes, “The” Vines, “The” White Stripes, “The” Hives, (and sure Interpol and Jet don’t have a “The” present but they’re in this category too) as well as countless others—are ripping off what “The” Ramones and “The” Rolling Stones have already done years ago. It must be a conspiracy by the music industry who decided to pummel us with “The” same thing over and over again. Of course it sells because some retard in Alternative Rolling Spin decided that it was uber cool and heaped praise onto the whole big stinky mess as if they didn’t make money from advertisements by the same lame record companies who put out this nonsense. If you want to listen to derivative garage rock that worked better in its hey day in the ‘70’s than fine be that way—just don’t come crying to me when some little thirteen year old starts gushing over their music and you’re like “dude they’ve totally sold out”. Sorry they sold out when they pressed record, bro.
